Flower Piano

Yesterday, we went to Flower Piano at the San Francisco Botanical Garden, a two-week event created and produced by Mauro ffortissimo and Dean Mermell of Sunset Piano http://sunsetpiano.com

12 Pianos for 12 Days is brilliant performance art, gorgeous, fun, and accessible to all. Each piano is tucked in a different regional landscape of the Garden, available to all. This girl is playing in the Redwood Grove.

After this man got up from the Mediterranean Garden piano, we realized he is blind.

This boy will be a great jazz musician. Tapping his foot and improvising all the way.

This pianist is playing in the Moon Viewing Garden lake pavilion.

Mauro ffortissimo owns my Half Moon Bay yoga studio www.ensohmb.com and I’ve known him for almost ten years. He is a true Renaissance man. Chef, musician, yogi, poet, artist and sculptor in many mediums. He rescues old unwanted pianos and transforms them. We have two of his pieces:

He also plays them, even the “wrong” side!
